PHOENIX (AP) – Devices known as skimmers that steal credit card information have been discovered and removed on two pumps at a Phoenix gas station.

The Arizona Department of Weights and Measures said an investigator found and removed the devices at a Circle K station at 32nd Street and Cactus Road this week. People who recently bought gas at the station are being advised to check their credit or debit card statements to ensure they aren’t victims.

Thieves place the devices on pumps and then use the information to make fraudulent charges. Weights and Measures Director Mark Killian says many pumps have security stickers sealing the electronics compartment near the credit card slot. If the sticker isn’t there or is disturbed notify the station attendant.

Department inspectors have discovered skimming devices this year.
